The Lido opened in 1962 to provide a safe alternative to swimming in the Heath
Pond for the local community.

60 years later, our community of swimmers remains at the heart of all the decisions
we make. Although the turnstile and brightly coloured wooden doors on the changing
area are a reminder of the Lido’s history, our facilities have been regularly updated to
ensure the Lido is modern, safe and comfortable to use.

As a small charity, we rely on donations and sponsorship to support the income
generated from ticket sales.

Work for us

We have a mix of permanent and seasonal staff working at the Lido.

Current vacancies

We need a Duty Manager to start on 25 April 2026 and commit to working regularly
throughout the summer, with the possibility of extending the role beyond the end of
September.

All applicants must have a valid RLSS National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification.

Who runs the pool

The pool is run by a management team made up of trustees and paid staff. They are
supported by seasonal staff and volunteers.

As a small charity, we select our trustees because of their skills, passion and
willingness to commit time to the running of the pool. Between them, the trustees are
responsible for the finance, projects, operations, fundraising,
community engagement and maintenance of the pool.
